My Father's 1st Cousin is deceased Lt Col Prescott Dow Fagan. He would be proud of the website you have in honor of the men who filled your ranks during WW II. Of course, P.D. Fagan was well known to have flown bomber missions for the South African Air Force before the entry of the United States into the war. When Pearl Harbor was attacked, he immediately returned home to the USA to fight for our country. His younger brother, Charles Fagan, also contributed to the war effort, before and after the Pearl Harbor attack.

Again, GREAT website for the VMB 611 bombers!

best,

Mike Johnson

My grandfather 1stLT George Albers flew with VMB-611 during the war. Unfortunately he passed away in 1993 from old service injuries. Did anyone here know him? Thank you in advance.

Semper Fi,

Andrew Albers

Work on PBJ-1J at CAF progressing well. Paint applied to right nacelle, bomb bay doors almost complete. Hope to be flying to an air show near you soon. Check CAF Southern California Wing, OBJ project for further info. Had several visits from Sgt. Vern Horton, radio gunner with VMB 611, he really likes what he is seeing.

Regarding Joseph Caggiano as posted by his grandson. Your grandfather and I were best buddies during the war. I visited with him on Moore Street there in Philly several times before his untimely death. I was so happy to see your posting. Please email me when you can. Thanks Rip Collins SSgt USMC VMB 611

Excellent website. My grandfather was a radio/gunner on one of the PBJ's from VMB-611. My father, who passed away 2 weeks ago told me everything I know about my grandfather. The author of the book, "The Bombers of Magzam" sent my father a copy of his book. BTW, the last name is spelled CaggIano (everyone keeps omitting the "I" in our last name.) But I have his dog tags and the USMCR spelled it correctly.
